Guest Comment:
Our first trip to edinburgh and indeed scotland. The Holyrood Hotel is situated next to Holyrood park at the bottom of a small hill leading into the centre of the city. it is a perfect location allowing peace and quiet and only a short walk or bus ride to all the main sights and attractions. The hotel has a very cosey and relaxing atmosphere. With the snow pouring down outside we sometimes found it difficult to get up off the sofas that are positioned in front of a large open fire in the reception. The food is particulary good, especially the breakfasts! The staff are very helpful and friendly. We only used the pool once but if your like keeping fit the gym and pool facilities are also good. I will certainly be returning to this hotel in the future.
Top Tip:
restaurant - 'The Outsider', situated on george iv bridge, just off the Royal mile.
the bus tours are expensive but worth while. The tickets are £12 but valid for 24 hours. you can therefore get on and off as you please as they are very frequent. These start at waverly bridge.
